On the Friday, the 30th of October this year beautiful ladies of the University of Ghana campus will once again battle it out at the National Theater to determine who is has the looks and the brains. A ticket to this event will cost you GHC 10. The show will be followed by an after-party at the Vanity Night Club in Osu. Face of Legon is an annual event organized by the Akuafo Hall, University of Ghana. In this contest beauty pageants selected from the University of Ghana go through series of competitive stages in order to be crowned the winner in the end. The theme for this year's event is “Farmers Safety and Health: Role of the student”

Expressions- A literary and arts night at Smoothy's

On Friday 30th October, there will be a literary and arts night at Smoothy's located in Osu. This event is hosted by DK Osei Yaw and Alba Simprim at the smoothy's pub.

The last time such an event was organized Smoothy's, writers, poets, bloggers and media men all came under one roof to read extracts from their works wile they all enjoyed different flavors of delicious smoothies.

It event attracted, prolific Ghanaian writers such as Ayesha Haruna Atta and musicians like Mensa. This time more experienced faces will be at the event. Young Moh, Martin Egblewogbe, Rhyme Sonny and Martin Azumeze among others.

Accra Jazz and World Music Festival

Alliance Francaise in Ghana from Oct 12th to the Oct 17th will put together its first ever Accra Jazz and World Music Festival to take place at the Alliance Francaise. The six-day event will start with an exhibition of Paintings and Sculptors by some famous artists. According to Alliance Francaise, this event will be an annual one from next year. There will be performances from world renowned Jazz and Fusion artistes like the Babu Group from South Africa who are into Jazz and Indian Music, Thico Freeman and the Squeeze Band, a quartet from Switzerland and Ka-Tam, a trio from France.Other local artistes like Ayeeko Drummers and Balinga Group, an African Jazz group will also be there. High life and Jazz artistes like Aka Blay and Dela Botri will also collaborate with some of the international artistes billed to perform at the event.

4Syte TV is undoubtedly one of Ghana's most entertaining TV shows on television in Ghana. It started some three years and has since then provided its cherished viewers the hottest fyllas in the entertainment world both locally and international. 4Syte Tv presenters and staff definitely are geared towards becoming the nation's number one entertainment channel.

4Syte will celebrate its 3rd year in the entertainment business on the 17th of October 2009 at the Capital View Hotel in Koforidua. There will be a pool side party which will definitely attract lots of fans from far and near. The first time 4Syte celebrated its anniversary at the Crown Apartmento, it was a BOMB. The 4Syte TV crew promises someting bigger than the first and second anniversaries The celebration will be followed in by another party on the 31st October in Takoradi.

There will be another gathering on the 14th of November 2009 in Kumasi, where all fans of 4syte TV and the Ghana black stars will cheer their favorite Black Stars in a World Cup Qualifier. The match will be shown on big projector screen amidst music and lots of dancing. There is no other cool way to support the Black Stars.

World Tourism Day in Ghana

world tourism day pictureThis year’s World Tourism Day (WTD) will be celebrated on the 27th September 2009 in Accra Ghana under the theme ‘Tourism - Celebrating Diversity’’. In 1980, the 27th of September was selected as the day for the celebration if the WTD every year. The WTD is celebrated to raise awareness of the role tourism plays in International communities and also to demonstrate how tourism affects the cultural, social, political and economic values globally. In 1997, the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization is Instanbul Turkey decided to commemorate the WTD in a host country every year. At its Beijing session in 2003, the UNWTO decided to follow a certain shift in locations. Europe was to host it in 2006, South Asia in 2007, the Americas in 2008 and Africa was scheduled for 2009. The event of this year’s WTD in Ghana is going to be a week-long celebration with series of forums and traditional events lined up. Ghana has been in the limelight of African Tourism especially after the visit of the first Black American president, Barack Obama. The celebration of this year’s WTD in Ghana is expected to increase the country’s popularity the more. A few events have already been organized by the Ministry of Tourism and other stake holders to create awareness of the celebration. Miss Gladys was crowned Miss Tourism in Ghana on the 19th September 2009 in a beauty contest organized to select a queen who would help promote the tourism prospects of Ghana.
