Just like the Bugum Festival, the Damba festival too is a religious festival celebrated to mark the birth and naming of the Prophet Mohammed. This festival is celebrated by the people of Mamprusi, Nanumba, Dagbon and Gonja. Recently this festival which hitherto was purely religious has taken a traditional twist and is also used to introduce the new yam crop.
